North Dakota Chief Information Security Officer Kevin Ford announced today that anti-malware software is available to all K-12 schools in North Dakota at no cost. NDIT is able to provide installation, licenses and self-service access for schools due to enhanced capabilities and a unified, statewide approach to cybersecurity strategy. Previously a small fee was required per device; however, that requirement is being removed due to increased threats tied to the pandemic and more widespread virtual learning.

On Aug. 3, the North Dakota Emergency Commission approved the Department of Human Services’ request for an additional $12 million in remaining Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding to again extend the state’s Child Care Emergency Operating Grant program. The funding also requires approval from the Legislature’s Budget Section, which meets Aug. 13.

The North Dakota University System (NDUS) in cooperation with the North Dakota Department of Health is arranging mass testing events for COVID-19 in multiple locations across the state. Current students, incoming students, faculty and staff are encouraged to get tested.
